WOMEN/CREATE! Presents a Virtual Festival of Dance In Partnership with New York Live Arts
WOMEN/CREATE!, a virtual celebration of dance, will be introduced on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at 7:30pm ET, livestreamed on Facebook, Twitter, Vimeo, and YouTube. The full program and post-show talkback will be accessible to see through Sunday, May 23, 2021 on Vimeo.
For a very long time, Jennifer Muller/The Works has curated the WOMEN/CREATE! celebration, uniting unmistakable female choreographers for a yearly New York City season in a common program design. The current year's Festival will traverse the array of dance strategies, from contemporary to club and road styles, and will highlight four dance movies and two live world debuts shot at New York Live Arts.
Ladies choreographers have consistently been trailblazers of dance, and WOMEN/CREATE! praises their innovativeness with those roots to introduce an evening of solid works by six visionary female choreographers. Karole Armitage, Sidra Bell, Jacqulyn Buglisi, Tatiana Desardouin, Meagan King, and Jennifer Muller will consolidate for a recognized evening of programming that commends ladies makers and their convincing voices in the dance world. The exhibition will be trailed by a talkback directed by Danni Gee, featuring the exceptional encounters of our 2021 choreographers and the various difficulties they have looked as ladies, with viewpoints from the 80s through today.
