In the last discussion we talked about how impressive Utah’s instructors and dance studios are, another factor that come into place is the religious influence in Utah.
An important static is that 60 percent of the population is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. That particular religion encourages children to sing, dance and participate in healthy forms of entertainment. In my own experience being a member of the LDS church you are encouraged to recognize your talents and develop and grow your talents. Not to say this exclusive to the LDS church but people in Utah are in fact very family oriented and goal driven people. Performers in Utah use dance as a way of bringing people together. An example is the annual “Art with Heart” show which is a mixture of dancers form The Dance Club, The Winter School and Impression. From the annual event it on average raises more the $200,000 for Shriners Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City to help buy special equipment for its patients. So religion and charity act as types of motivators for dancers in Utah. If you agree or disagree with these ideas please leave your comments below.
