The Joffrey Ballet's Nutcracker Has a New Role for Dancers With Disabilities Marie and Franz have another visitor at their Christmas Eve party this year. Emma Lookatch and Larke Johnson, the two artists in the Adaptive Dance Program at Joffrey Academy of Dance: Official School of The Joffrey Ballet, are rotating in the new job of Worker Girl. It is a perpetual part made explicitly for understudies with inabilities in Christopher Wheeldon's rendition of The Nutcracker at The Joffrey Ballet.
Wheeldon's creation, which debuted in 2016, is set in Chicago in 1892 just before the principal World's Fair. The piece of Worker Girl is remembered for Act I, during the gathering scene. The character is a piece of the network of foreigner families living close to the carnival.
