​Mel C and Jules Cunningham to Work Together on a New Concert Dance Work

How Did We Get Here? by British dancer Jules Cunningham examines the emotions and memories contained in the bodies of its three performers: Cunningham, Spice Girl Melanie C., and Harry Alexander.

Cunningham, who prefers they/them pronouns, performed for many years first with Michael Clark and subsequently with unrelated Merce Cunningham. Now working as a choreographer in their own right, they create pieces that show influences from their dance background, most notably a preference for classical lines and mathematical spatial arrangements, but unlike the impersonal performances of their former mentors, their choreography is distinctly intimate and personal.
