Dakhká Khwáan Dancers from Whitehorse Selected as Lead Group for Celebration 2024 The Dakhká Khwáan Dancers, a Whitehorse-based Inland Tlingit and Tagish dance troupe, have been been selected as the primary dance troupe for the Celebration festival in 2024.
The celebration, which took place in Juneau, Alaska, from June 8 to June 11, was where the ensemble won the honor this year. Sealaska Heritage hosts Celebration, a celebration every two years in Juneau. Every two years, this Tlingit, Tsimshian, and Haida cultural celebration attracts thousands of onlookers from all around southeast Alaska, as well as over 2,000 dancers. The selection of the lead dance ensemble for the upcoming Celebration by the board of trustees of Sealaska Heritage is a crucial component of the occasion.
