Alice in Wonderland is presented by Avant Chamber Ballet. With the success of their adaptation of Alice in Wonderland, produced by director and choreographer Katie Puder and composer Mikayla Dobson, Avant Chamber Ballet descends once more into the rabbit hole. The concerts will take place at Moody Performance Hall on February 17 and 18.
The show is a kid-friendly adaptation of Lewis Carroll's well-known tale of magical adventures, featuring all your favorite book characters. In 2013, the ballet had its stage debut in a riot of color, stage magic, and creative choreography. The specially commissioned music by Mikayla Dobson combines a strange fantasy realm with sweeping melodies that allude to ballet soundtracks from the nineteenth century. An all-ages magical world is created with the help of Ann Boyce's costumes, Zero Productions' set design, and a student cast from The Dallas Conservatory. A cast of remarkable and instantly recognized characters, including the tense Queen of Hearts, a playing card corps de ballet, a sinuous caterpillar, and the eccentric Mad Hatter, are encountered by Alice.
